Alfred Karam, director of transportation for Shenendehowa Central School District in Clifton Park, says it’s always a challenge in cold weather. However, they’re actually always preparing for it year round.

Karam said they treat the fuel with additives to make sure it stays usable, and they’ll plug the diesel buses in to make sure they start in the morning.

Finally, he said no delays are expected despite the cold.

Like many districts, they are down bus drivers, so many of the mechanics are having to also drive the buses on routes.

If you’re interested in being a driver, they will take you.
