Life is a marathon

Some of you may know that I've run marathons .. not very fast, but respectable and I've got the medals to prove I crossed the line.

While those were accomplishments on their own marathoning is really training for life. There are many highs and lows along the way but the key is to keep your focus. And it's not just about crossing the finish line - it's about the lessons you learn during the training. That's why I found this blog entry on the NYTimes worth reading: particularly the point made about taxing ourselves. We can't just float through life - that doesn't help us stretch and reach our potential. And not everything we do will be comfortable - that's the point - to get out of comfort zones because that's where the building and learning take place.

You can choose to read this and slough it off .. or take it to heart and look at the routines in your life .. shake them up a bit .. let us know what happens .. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/14/should-running-hurt-a-little/

You know what 'they' say . .you've got to crack a couple of eggs to make an omelette.
