It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Can you believe the summer is almost over and in a little over two weeks most kids will be returning to school?  Some parents may be shouting hurray- Today I was doing an interview for a  back to school story that required me to be at the home of two little girls who were just finding out today who their new teachers will be. The girls were ecstatic about their new teacher as was the mom. But it could be a very challenging school year. Kids return to schools facing budget cuts because of the economy, nurses and administrators are gearing up for a possible swine flu assault, a new commissioner is taking over at state ed. and that could mean changes and then there is the work of educating kids- some of whose families may be in turmoil because a parent has lost a job and the family has now lost the income that provided for a certain lifestyle. Whew!!!  So, let's take our hats off to the teachers, nurses and school administrators-they have a lot on their plates as they head into that most wonderful time of the year ! Elaine
