Latham man arrested with toy gun

BETHLEHEM -- Store security reported a shoplifter who "pulled a gun on him."

It turned out to be a toy-like replica, according to police.

Bethlehem Police say they were called to the Marshall's Department Store in Glenmont around 2:20pm Friday for the incident.

They found a man matching the suspect's description at a nearby gas station at the corner of Route 9W and Feura Bush Road. When they approached him he showed a "weapon and was disarmed and taken into custody without incident," according to a statement from the police department.

Darrel Lee Wimberly, 50, of Latham was arrested and charged with two felonies including robbery and criminal use of a firearm. He was also charged with drug possession and larceny, both misdemeanors.

He has been arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and sent to the Albany County Jail  in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
