Hoops star charged with dealing cocaine

TROY, N.Y. (AP) - Police are charging standout Binghamton University basketball player Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben with possessing and selling cocaine in his hometown.

Mayben set a school single-season record for assists last year while leading Binghamton to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA basketball tournament.

Troy police say Mayben had 3.4 grams of cocaine in his possession when he was arrested Wednesday night. He was charged in an indictment with selling the drug.

Mayben was held in jail overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday. Authorities don't know if he has a lawyer.

Binghamton coach Kevin Broadus declined to comment on Mayben's arrest.

Mayben, a senior, played at Massachusetts in the 2006-07 season and transferred to Hudson Valley Community College in the 2007-08 season.
