Person stabbed in Greenport early Saturday morning

GREENPORT -- 40 year old Jonathan Jones of Hudson is accused of stabbing a man early this morning.

At around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning, State Police responded to a 911 report of a stabbing that occurred in the parking lot of the Moose Club on Town Hall Drive in the Town of Greenport.  The stabbing took place just as a rap music contest at the Club was ending.

A 31 year old Hudson man was taken to Albany Medical Center with lacerations to his neck and torso area.  Police said Saturday evening that the victim was in stable condition.

Jones was arraigned in the Greenport Town Court and taken to Columbia County Jail with no bail.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call NYSP in Livingston at 851-2001 and ask for Investigator William Mulrein.
