Police say 32-year-old Consuelo Leonard stole a check from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Albany Shaker Road. They say she cashed it in Rensselaer County.

Leonard apparently presented herself to local churches as someone in need of shelter, money and food.

In October Leonard was charged with grand larceny in Bethlehem. Police say she took $1,900 collected at a service at the Glenmont Community Church.
