Elderly man robbed in Albany

ALBANY - Police are investigating the robbery of an elderly Albany man in which the suspect knocked the victim down and stole his rent money.

Police say the 81-year-old man was walking near North First Street and North Pearl Street when a man knocked him the ground and took his wallet and credit cards.

Police are not releasing the victim's name.

The senior citizen had apparently just left the North Albany American Legion Post after voting and was on his way to pay his rent when he was robbed. Police say more than $1,000 was taken from him.

The victim suffered a cut to his knee. He was treated at the scene.
