Flu clinic doesn't use all doses, has reserves

ALBANY -- County leaders say close to 3,000 people are expected to pass through the doors of the Times Union Center for the H1N1 flu clinic.

Albany County Executive Mike Breslin was on hand to make sure the mass vaccination ran smoothly and called it a major success.

Pregnante women and young children were part of the priorty group. Around 4,500 doses were available but only about 2,800 were administered.

Leftover doses will be handed out to other medical personnel and used at future clinics. County officials expect to receive more shipments of the vaccine this week.

"We will continue to work with the state and all the other medical providers to make sure we get the entire blanket," Breslin said. "Ultimately, I think there will be many more people getting the shot. We are first targeting those most at risk."
