Naked man charged with assault, DWI
ALBANY - A Troy man was found naked and driving drunk early Saturday morning in Albany. He's also accused of beating up his girlfriend.
Justin Mawad, 29, of North Lake Avenue in Troy was arraigned Saturday morning in Albany City Court. He is charged with DWI and third-degree assault.
Around 2 a.m. a woman with a four-inch gash to her head flagged down officers outside 52 Columbia St. She told them that Mawad grabbed her by her hair and slammed her head several times into the side of his pickup truck during an argument, according to Detective James Miller.
The victim pointed out Mawad down the street, who was in his pickup truck and backing out of a parking space, police say. Officers pulled him over, found him inside without any clothes on and with another woman. He had an odor of alcohol and slurred speech, police say.
Mawad failed field sobriety tests at the scene and later failed a breathalyzer exam, Miller said.
The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
