NY again tries to sell old armory

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - New York state is again attempting to auction off one of its aging armories.

The Office of General Services is accepting sealed bids until 4 p.m. Tuesday for Wednesday's auction of the Glens Falls Armory.

The minimum bid for the 115-year-old armory is $350,000, down from $500,000 when the 38,000-square-foot building was put up for auction the first time in October. No bids were entered then.

The armory was declared surplus property by the state Division of Military and Naval Affairs in July. The National Guard unit formerly based at the armory has moved into a new readiness center built nearby.

Last month, state officials canceled the auction of the surplus Schenectady Armory, saying there has been interest in the property and it may be disposed of some other way.
