Mohonasen students dedicate 9/11 memorial

ROTTERDAM - A moment of silence and a dedication ceremony was held at Mohonasen High School in Schenectady Tuesday.

The senior class dedicated a sculpture in memory of the September 11th tragedy.

The sculpture, which two towers made of broken glass, is called perpetual rejuvenation. It was constructed by students and a retired teacher.

The director of the City Mission in Schenectady, Michael Saccocio, was the guest speaker at the event. He told students to use the memorial as a place to reflect and look toward the future.

"Just as these pieces of broken glass in the memorial are made to to form something beautiful, you too can convert something bad into something better - for yourself and for others," he said.

Today they are seniors, but on the day of the attack the senior calls were eighth graders. Many say they will never forget September 11th, 2001.
