WATERVLIET - The Heatly School was awarded a $2,800 Toolbox for Education grant for a World Drumming Village project.

According to a statement, the World Drumming Village consists of parents, students and faculty working together to build African drums. They then perform a drum circle with a professional percussionist.

The drums will be donated to the Heatly music program for future use and the project is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2012.

"This project is a unique opportunity for students, parents, and teachers," said Music Teacher Tiffany Dzembo in a statement. "Not only does it support the music program, but it also brings people together in a positive way."

Heatly is one of more than 585 schools or parent organizations to be awarded a Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant.
