ALBANY - The Albany County Sheriff says one officer has retired and seven others have been disciplined followed this week's attempted escape at the county jail.
Sheriff Craig Apple says that no major policy changes have taken place. However, he adds that if current policies were followed, the incident would not have occurred.
On Monday, authorities say 44-year-old Leon Banks apparently got through four unlocked checkpoints that were supposed to be secure.
The sheriff says more audits at the facility will now be conducted and that the investigation is now closed.
