COLONIE - An Albany woman was arrested Monday afternoon and accused of leaving her 22-month-old unattended in a car for about 10 minutes.

Colonie police said that 43-year-old Jodi G. Hebert was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child after she left her 22-month-old in the car in a parking lot of Kohl’s Plaza, located at 1814 Central Avenue.

Police said the car’s windows were down enough for someone to gain access to the child and the outside temperature was 81 degrees at the time.

A shopper saw the 22-month-old in the car and waited a few minutes to see if someone would come out to the car, then they called 911 to report the incident. When police arrived at the scene, Hebert came out about one minute later.

Police said she was very remorseful and was placed under arrest.

The child was not hurt.
