Police nab 4th of July thief

EAST GREENBUSH - East Greenbush Police are reporting the arrest of a suspected burglar who broke into a residence on Columbia Turnpike while the residents were out enjoying fireworks on the Fourth of July.

According to police, John Halacy, of Rensselaer, broke into the Columbia Turnpike home and stole the homeowners computer and iPad. Police say he attempted to take the big screen TV but was unsuccessful.

Halacy, 22, was charged with burglary and grand larceny. He was remanded to Rensselar County Jail in lieu of bail.
