Troy - The jury reached a guilty verdict in the murder trial of Scott Chaplin. The 35-year-old killed Rosemary Crosier in Troy 18 years ago.

After 18 years the Crosier children finally feel like they received some justice in the murder of their mother.

Scott Chaplin was found guilty of murder in the second degree in the death of Rosemary Crosier. She was killed in March of 1994. It was an overwhelming feeling of emotion for the three Crosier sisters, the daughters of Rosemary Crosier, as they listened to the verdict being read earlier this morning.

Feelings of sadness and anger gripped Chaplin’s family as his sister and father started yelling saying, “this was a crooked case, and there was no evidence against Scott.”

Court officers surrounded them until they calmed down as they stayed in the courtroom, but emotions continued outside.

“I’m so happy and I just want to thank everyone for their hard work,” said Cheri Crosier. “It’s been a long time and I’m just glad she finally got justice, thank you.”

The jury deliberated for three hours Thursday and one hour Friday before reaching a verdict. They sent two notes asking to hear read back of two witnesses. They did not send a note asking for clarification of the law as many juries do.

Scott Chaplin’s attorney said he was blown away by the guilty verdict and plans of filing appeals.
