LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (AP) - He wasn't dead, just very drunk.

Authorities say an upstate New York man who appeared to be dead behind the wheel of a locked car was instead heavily intoxicated.

Warren County sheriff's officers were called Monday afternoon to a motel parking lot in Lake George for a report of a man who was slumped over the wheel of a parked car and appeared to be deceased.

When the officers found the car was locked and the man wouldn't stir, they broke a window. That's when they discovered he was alive, but very drunk.

Police say the 55-year-old man's blood-alcohol content was 0.27 percent, more than triple the 0.08 percent threshold for driving while intoxicated.

He was charged with aggravated DWI.
