ROTTERDAM - Members of the Baitun Nur Mosque in Rotterdam spent Friday preparing for a celebration. Friday night marks the end of Ramadan.

Ramadan is a month long observance where Muslims fast from dawn to dusk.

The breaking of the fast is celebrated with friends, family worship and, of course, a big meal. This year the Women's Auxiliary of the Baitun Nur Mosque invited women of other faiths to fast with them, Friday only, and to join them for the party at sunset.

“We have so much misconceptions and ignorance of one another and by building pathways, sharing love, we realize how much we have in common,” said Tahira Khan.

All women are invited to this evening's Iftar dinner. It begins at 7 p.m. at the mosque on River Road in Rotterdam.
