NISKAYUNA - Around 11:30 Sunday night, in a small park at the corner of Becker Street and Central Avenue, three young people were stabbed. Witnesses say they believe it was self-defense. They say it happened after three teenagers started a fight with a fourth teen. One girl, who didn't want to identify herself, says she saw the fight break out.
"They came to confront him, and then he pulled a knife and they felt threatened. The kid who was stabbed in the stomach, there was blood everywhere."
People who live here say the teenager who had the knife ran and hid behind a neighbors home.
"He saw a kid with blood on his hand saying can you help me I need a cell phone," said a neighbor.
The three victims were apparently playing football earlier in the day. Charles Lacy was there.
"It's hard to believe they would start it, they're great kids, we play football with them all the time."
Some people are frustrated with Niskayuna police because the police department released few details about the stabbing Monday.
"When you keep it from people who live here it's not a positive, it's not at all", said a neighbor.
"I come to this park every single day, and now that stuff like this is happening, makes me think twice. Do I have to come here and bring a weapon to defend myself?" said Vinnie Topino, victims' friend.
Friends say the three teenagers are recovering and will be ok. Police aren't saying if anyone has been arrested.
