Billboards seek info into college student's disappearance and death

SARATOGA SPRINGS - The billboard on Route 9 in Wilton is a reminder of the questions police haven't been able to answer.
It was March of 2011, 19-year-old Alex Grant drove to Saratoga Springs to visit a buddy who attends Skidmore College.
According to police, they did some drinking on campus, then took a bus to a house party downtown where there were more than a hundred students.
Alex Grant was at the party less than an hour. After leaving there, he was seen on surveillance wandering around the Amtrak station and then inside a medical office building where he was bleeding and disoriented.
Two days later, his lifeless body was found in a creek. Toxicology showed that he was intoxicated and had a little marijuana in his system. Presumably not enough to be so disoriented that he'd wander off in a strange town without telling anyone.
Police are even wondering if there were bath salts involved, saying they wouldn't show up in a toxicology test.
"Whether it was Alex who voluntarily took something or if there was something placed in a drink of his," said Saratoga Springs Police Lt. John Catone.
But police have reached a roadblock. The students who were at the party, including Grant's best friend, are not cooperating, not talking. Even though they won't be prosecuted for non-violent crimes.
"The District Attorney even offered immunity from prosecution for those people who choose to cooperate."
But even a year-and-a-half later, few are cooperating. So police, and the Grant Family are left with questions that dog them.
"And the questions go on and on and I think they need those answers to feel like they've done their due diligence in finding out about their son's death," said Saratoga County District Attorney Jim Murphy.
His parents have dropped their $5 million lawsuit against nine men they first claimed played a role in their son's death.
Police are still trying to figure out how Grant got to the creek.
