LAKE LUZERNE - 22 years, 5 months and 26 days.
That's how long it took for Donald Moeller to admit what he did to Tina Curl's 9-year-old daughter.
Curl will leave her Lake Luzerne home later this month and drive to South Dakota to see Moeller die.
Donald Moeller kidnapped, raped and stabbed to death Tina Curl's daughter, Becky, back in May of 1990.
Through all these years, Moeller denied it. But he was found guilty, by two different juries. His appeals were denied and recently, he was sentenced to die by lethal injection at the end of October.
At a hearing late last week to determine if Moeller fully understands what is about to happen, the now 60-year-old finally told the judge that he should die for what he did.
"He does accept responsibility. He's admitted the actions and he's prepared to accept execution as consequences for what he's done," South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley told South Dakota TV station KDLT-TV.
But for Tina Curl, Moeller's statements in court last week are too vague. She wants to know exactly what he did to her little girl.
She's angry that he referred to her daughter as "that girl."
"That's what makes me the maddest. That girl had a name. That girl's name was Becky and she was loved and she was wanted and she's still loved."
Curl wants to know more. She wants to know from Moeller whether Becky called for her and how she tried to fight him off. She's sending him a letter that she hopes Moeller will answer before he's put to death by lethal injection.
An execution that Curl is eager to witness. "I'm still determined to watch him take his last breath. I want to bid him farewell as he rots in hell."
Tina Curl and her husband spent September 10th at the cemetery as they do every year on Becky's birthday. She would've been 32.
