SARATOGA SPRINGS - Collections for victims of Sandy are continuing throughout the Capital Region.

The convention and tourism community has led the effort in Saratoga County.

The lobby of the Hilton Garden Inn in Saratoga Springs was filled with donated water, toiletries and canned food.

The supplies were going to be loaded onto a truck and driven to a hotel in Staten Island.

"People just want to help. They don't know the best way, but when they know this is going directly to families impacted by the storm, they want to make sure it gets in their hands,” said Jason Bretz of the Hilton Garden Inn in Saratoga

The truck was scheduled to leave for Staten Island this afternoon. Organizers say they're going to continue to collect and send another shipment.
