Schenectady-based business sold to international company

SCHENECTADY - Bloomberg News is reporting that Fortitech, based in Schenectady, has been sold.

The buyer is DSM based in the Netherlands.

The purchase price is reported to be $634,000,000.

Fortitech makes additives that are supposed to boost the nutritional value of certain foods and drinks.

They opened a plant in Poland earlier this year, just finished expanding their plant in Brazil, and expect to open a plant in China next year.
