ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Paul Tonko says he wants to inspire people to record the stories of New York's veterans.

The Albany-area Democrat will host local veterans and members of the Stratton Veterans Administration on Friday to launch the Veterans History Project in Albany.

The national Veterans History Project was started in 2000 to collect and preserve the personal stories of war veterans. The project is part of the Library of Congress American Folklife Center.
