NYS unemployment rate drops to 8.7%

Some encouraging news on the job front: New York's unemployment rate dropped last month.

It now stands at 8.7%.

That's down from 8.9% percent in September.

The state labor department says the state's economy also added 5,900 private sector jobs last month.
