Averill Park teaching assistant on administrative leave

A teaching assistant and baseball coach at Algonquin Middle School in Averill Park is on administrative leave tonight and under investigation.

The school district has identified the teacher's aide as Jeffrey Spenard.

State police say there are allegations of inappropriate communication between Spenard and students.

The district tells us Spenard is not allowed on school grounds.

State police are now interviewing the children involved and their parents.
