ALBANY - Absentee ballots are being counted in Albany County today in the still undecided 46th state Senate race.

Attorneys have nearly 2,000 ballots to count.

As of Friday, Republican George Amedore is now leading the race, a turnaround from election night when Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk was ahead by 139 votes.

This is an important race because the outcome could determine which party leads the state Senate.

Later this week, paper ballots will be counted in Greene, Montgomery, Schenectady and Ulster counties.

We probably won't have a winner until late next week.
