Two men are stabbed when a brawl breaks out at a bar in downtown Schenectady

SCHENECTADY - Broken glass, a dirty hat and empty alcohol bottles, are all that remains of a scuffle outside Club XI on North Broadway in Schenectady.
The call came in around 3:30 Sunday morning, for a fight of over one hundred people. Police say when they got there, it was an all out brawl, with large crowds fighting inside and outside the bar.
A resident, who didn't want to be identified, says he heard what sounded like gun shots.
He recalled, “I hear about three shots in a row and the people screaming and running. About five minutes later I see the sirens of the police.”
Police say more than two dozen officers responded, including State Police, Rotterdam, Niskayuna, and Glenville police departments to bring the crowd under control.
No police officers were hurt, but in the end, police say two bar patrons were stabbed; 33 year-old Quintin Blunt of Schenectady was treated at Albany Med., and Jamal Carroll, also 33, from the Bronx was taken to Ellis Hospital. Their wounds were not considered life threatening. Police also made multiple arrests they say are unrelated to the stabbings.
Meanwhile, police say the liquor authority will be taking a look at the bar's license.
According to Lieutenant Mark McKracken, “This is a location that is new to the city of Schenectady. But it's not unknown to us.”
Police say they've been there multiple times before. The man who didn't want to be identified says the problems seem to be getting worse.
He told us Sunday, “I can see empty packs of drugs. Marijuana butts and all the items used for drug use, yes.”
He hopes police will increase patrol in the area to lower the violence.
