ULSTER COUNTY - The ballot counting is complete the race for New York’s 46th State Senate District.
That doesn’t mean the race between Republican George Amedore and Democrat Cecilia Tkaczyk is over.
The Senate District spans from Montgomery to Ulster County.
Three weeks since Election Day, the race is still too close to call.
After all absentee and machine ballots were counted, the final tally has Tkaczyk trailing by about 100 votes.
More than 800 paper ballots were objected to -- most from the Amedore campaign.
The Tkaczyk campaign says that puts them in a very good position.
The race is now headed to court to decide whether to open the ballots that were set aside.
Ulster County Election Commissioner Thomas Turco says he’s pretty confident the new senator for the 46th Senate District should still be in place by January.
