Smith was already in jail for allegedly setting fire to the fire house where he was a volunteer when authorities picked him up on Thursday and took him to court to answer new charges.

The Tree Paad in Malta had a major delivery on Friday. The owner Patty Garrand and her family members worked to bring in boxes of material for a renovation.

"We get customers to stop by everyday and realized that it's closed. They didn't know what happened," Garrand said.

A fire shut the place down back in August. William Smith, a former employee, is the man accused of setting that fire. State police charged the 22 year-old with arson on Thursday for the August 9 fire.

Smith was already in jail for allegedly setting fire to the fire house in Queensbury where he was a volunteer when authorities picked him up and took him to court to answer the new charges.

Garrand did not want to comment on the arrest. But she said the fire was devastating to her business as it left behind more than a million dollars worth of damage.

Our customers are wonderful. If you go to our Facebook page, they're even offering to come back and help to get us back open as fast as possible," Garrand said.

Even after a thorough cleaning, parts of the Tree Paad where families come for entertainment and birthday parties, still needed a lot of work. Most of the equipment inside, including games and play areas, have to be replaced. Garrand said she's glad no one was hurt and that everything should be back to normal soon.
