Republicans in Troy are upset over a democratic plan to hire a Public Safety Commissioner. Mayor Lou Rosamilia says his responsibility is to provide safety to the community. He insists he's been planning to hire someone to oversee the police department since taking office a year ago, but police Chief John Tedesco has a completely different view.
"My belief is it's one thing only, political retaliation by the Democratic Common Council against a republican chief who served under Harry Tutunjian."
The position of Public Safety Commissioner in Troy would pay $30,000 per year. That is significantly less than what Chief Tedesco makes.
