WEST LEBANON, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a Columbia County man was more than three times over the limit for driving while intoxicated when he sped past an elementary school just minutes before classes ended.
State police say troopers pulled over 30-year-old Andrew Darcy of New Lebanon at 2:41 p.m. Tuesday when he was caught speeding near the Walter B. Howard Elementary School on Route 20 in his hometown, on the Massachusetts.
Police say Darcy was found to have a blood-alcohol content of .28 percent, 3½ times the legal level for driving. He was charged with aggravated DWI and speeding in a school zone.
Darcy is scheduled to appear in the New Lebanon Town Court on Dec. 20. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
