STUYVESANT FALLS, N.Y. (AP) - Police in eastern New York say an 87-year-old man has died in a traffic accident.

Columbia County Sheriff David Harrison Jr. says Kenneth Oelkers of Kinderhook was driving in the town of Stuyvesant at about 7 a.m. Friday when his car ran off the road and into a stand of trees.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, including the possibility a medical problem contributed to the wreck.
