Deputies make arrests in retail theft cases

AMSTERDAM – Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies arrested five people in connection with shoplifting complaints at both Price Chopper and Wal-Mart.
On Friday, deputies revieved a call for two females who were being detained, according to store officials they were seen concealing merchandise on their person and attempting to leave the store without paying for it.
Dorissa Butler and Cassondra Lilley were arrested and charged with petit larceny.
Deputies also received a call from the same Wal-Mart that two females had attempted to steal a large quantity of electronics, toys, and sporting goods.
Tonya Lee-Haynes and Amy Hassenfuss were both charged with grand larceny.
Police also received a call for a shoplifting suspect at Price Chopper. Upon arrival deputies found that Jorge Lugo was observed concealing items on his person in an attempt to steal them. Lugo was charged with petit larceny.
All suspects were released on their own recognizance and issued appearance tickets for a later date.
