Schenectady Police Chief gets new job after retirement

SCHENECTADY – Police Chief Mark Chaires will begin a brand new job after he retires.

Chaires will take over as Executive Director of the Hamilton Hill Arts Center.

He grew up in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood, and is a 24-year veteran of the Schenectady Police Department.

Chaires will replace outgoing director Penny Holmes, who is leaving to take a job with the Ark Charter Community School.
