TROY – A teenager accused of killing her father appeared in court Thursday. Trinity Copeland was indicted on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter following the July shooting.

Most 17-year-old’s this time of year are getting ready for Christmas. However, Copeland is heading back to jail after the indictment and arraignment at the Rensselaer County Courthouse.

The young-looking teenage girl -- who by all accounts from her neighbors was smart and had everything going for her -- did not speak in court.

Her family was present to hear the official charges.

Investigators say Copeland shot her father, Harlan Copeland, at the apartment they shared.

The case was adjourned for 45 days and Copeland was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
