Powerful winds impact Capital Region

Strong and blustery winds topping up to 60 mph impacted many parts of the region today.
The Red Cross is helping four people in Watervliet after the roof of their home collapsed Friday afternoon.
The multi-family house is located on 5th Avenue.
No one was injured.
In Mechanicville, the winds brought down a barn that's used to store trucks for a fuel company.
Firefighters say the winds collapsed the barn at around 10 Friday morning. There was just one propane truck inside the barn, which is owned by GA Bove fuels, and the others were out making deliveries. The assistant fire chief says the barn is destroyed, but the truck suffered little damage. The collapse knocked out power in the immediate vicinity.
In Rensselaer County, a downed power line caught fire, and it was caught on camera.
One of our engineers at NewsChannel 13 was traveling on Vandenburg Avenue in Troy Friday morning.
He was not driving, and was able to capture the burning wire with his cell phone.
No injuries are reported.
NewsChannel 13 also received several reports of downed trees and power lines on Oakwood Avenue in Troy.
The police and fire departments responded, along with National Grid.
The road was closed for several hours but is now open again.
In all, National Grid estimates 20,000 customers in Eastern New York experienced outages Friday because of the high winds.
