Residents in areas of Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington counties continue to experience power outages due to yesterdays winter storm.

NYSEG is reporting approximately 4,000 still without power in the Mechanicville Division, which includes areas of Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga and Washington Counties. The company expects to restore power to many of those customers by 11:00 Saturday evening.

"We are committed to restoring power to all of our customers safely and as quickly as possible, and will work diligently until every customer's power is restored," Mark Leta, NYSEG regional operations manager.

With many doing some last minute shopping today, NYSEG would like to remind everyone to use caution.

  • Stay away from downed power lines, even if they appear to be dead
  • Use caution when operating generators
  • Never run an emergency generator indoors

Dry Ice is available Saturday at the Ghent Fire Station on Rte. 66 for Columbia County residents, and the Hoags Corners Firehouse at 7237 on State Rte. 66 in East Nassau for Rensselaer County residents.
