Downed trees cause damage to area homes

While many are getting some last minute Christmas shopping done, others throughout the Capital Region are cleaning up damage caused by Friday's winter storm.

High winds brought down several trees, damaging some homes, and left thousands without power in counties east of the Hudson River.

We will continue to follow the cleanup progress throughout the day and will have more on the story in this evenings news cast.
