LIVINGSTON - State police say alcohol played a role in a fatal crash Monday morning in Livingston.

They tell NewsChannel 13 that 19-year-old Thomas Griffin of Germantown was driving south on Route 9 when his car went off the road and hit a utility pole.

21-year-old Max Kelly of Germantown was a passenger in the car.

He was taken to Albany Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

Griffin is charged with driving while intoxicated, and vehicular assault.

But police expect to file more charges, now that Kelly has died.
