GUILDERLAND - Fire investigators are trying to figure out how a townhouse fire started early Thursday morning in Guilderland.

Six units are in the town house at 4056 Chaucer Place.

Fire crews got the call around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

"There were residents in the structure at the time of the fire. Everybody was evacuated. However one individual has needed to be treated for smoke inhalation,” said Sean Maguire, Guilderland Fire Dept.

Because it was so cold, the evacuees were taken off site to a warm location while fire crews battled the flames.

They believe they know where the fire started but have not said how it started.

They say fire walls in the building kept the flames from spreading and doing more damage.
