BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who pleaded guilty to six counts of burglary and other charges has been sentenced to at least three years in prison.

Prosecutors said in all, 20 crimes were committed by 25-year-old Eric Lambert of Shaftsbury.

Police said Lambert primarily stole items from family members and people he knew.
The Bennington Banner reports he apologized to the victims in court.

Lambert's attorney said he became addicted to prescription drugs after a car crash a few years ago in which he  was severely injured. He said Lambert understands addiction is not an excuse for his behavior.
