Governor Cuomo declares a Public Health Emergency, Saturday, for all of New York State in response to this year's flu season. An executive order has been issued to allow pharmacists to give the flu vaccine to patients between 6 months and 18 years old.
"We are experiencing the worst flu season since at least 2009, and influenza activity in New York State is widespread," Gov. Cuomo.
Cuomo continues to urge New Yorkers that its not too late to get the flu shot. Local vaccine providers can be located online by visiting http://flushot.healthmap.org/ and entering a zip code. Those without internet access can call 1-800-522-5006.
The order is set to take place over the next 30 days. For additional flu information, including statewide surveillance, visit the State Health Department website http://www.health.ny.gov/diseases/communicable/influenza/seasonal/
