VOORHEESVILLE - A local girl is the state champion when it comes to growing cabbage, and her name is Rori Champion.

Last March, the Voorheesville Garden Project gave away 2” cabbage plants to a class of third graders.

The students cultivated the plants all summer and then submitted their results in September.

Rori was declared the statewide winner by Bonnie Plants and gets a $1,000 scholarship.
