LATHAM, N.Y. (AP) - Members of the New York Army and Air National Guard are heading to Washington, D.C., to support Monday's inaugural events kicking off Barak Obama's second term as president.

Officials at the New York National Guard headquarters in suburban Albany say 40 New York Guard soldiers and airmen will join thousands of comrades from across the U.S. who will provide support during the inaugural events.

Most of the New York contingent departs Wednesday and will return next Wednesday.

The soldiers and airmen come from units across the state, including 17 military intelligence specialists from the Troy-based 42nd Infantry Division, nine cooks from the Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing in Newburgh and two computer security specialists from the 107th Airlift Wing at Niagara Falls.
