ALBANY - Local non-profit organizations are urging Capital Region residents to honor Martin Luther King's birthday by volunteering.

Representatives of several groups were joined by Congressman Paul Tonko at the Albany Food Pantry’s offices Thursday morning.

Many of the groups have events scheduled for Saturday, just ahead of the official Monday holiday.

Other groups taking part in today's event included the Stakeholders, Empire State Youth Orchestra City Instruments and Re/Max Realty.
