Population loss affecting economics in Gloversville

GLOVERSVILLE - State Comptroller Tom Dinapoli says long term population loss is hampering economic growth in the City of Gloversville.
He released a fiscal profile of the city Wednesday morning.
The population has dropped 34 percent since 1950 to about 15,000 residents.
The unemployment rate is 13.5 percent from 2007 to 2011. Much higher than the state average, a little emore than 8 percent.
The report also finds nearly 24 percent of families in Gloversville live in poverty.
