Special glasses help those with hearing difficulties enjoy movies better

People who are deaf or hard of hearing may now be able to enjoy the big screen a little bit more. After decades of limited closed captioning, high tech glasses are making it possible for those with hearing difficulties to see any movie.
Ben Finkin is 97 years old. With the help of an interpreter, he explains how for decades he couldn't enjoy the movies, especially when he joined his hearing friends. That is until now, and it is all because of these special glasses. That's where the green text is coming from. It's closed captioning for any movie at Regal Cinema 18 at Crossgates Mall.
Laura Cooper from the Albany Chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America was at the mall today with some invited guests like Finkin to try out the new technology. It works with the new digital projection at movie theaters. A little box picks up what's being said, and projects it on the glasses.
There are only a limited number of glasses. Regal plans to offer the technology at Colonie Center later this spring.
