ALBANY - Helping children learn in these tough economic times was the focus of a state budget hearing Monday in Albany.
Among those testifying was The State Education Commissioner John King and SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher.
Governor Cuomo's proposed education budget includes a spending increase, but teachers and advocates say it's not enough.
The governor also calls for $25 million in grants for full-day, pre-k programs and $20 million to lengthen the school day or year.
